As I write to you now it is already nearing 9pm on Sunday night…excuse me, where did the weekend go?!  This weekend was fairly low key compared to more recent weekends filled with activities but that didn’t stop it from speeding by quickly.

Saturday we took a trip to Lowe’s so I could pick up some paint & supplies for my office.  As you may remember reading a few weeks ago I decided to make some changes to the look of my office in the New Year.  I was just so sick of the very drab decor and since I spend the majority of my day in that office, I thought it would be nice to actually like the environment I am spending so much time in. Let it inspire and motivate me rather than lull me into a mid-day haze as I come down from my morning caffeine fix.  When I am all done updating the office in a few more weeks I’ll have a separate post on the subject.  For now, I can tell you that my work on updating the office space is starting, but since it’s only being done on weekends during non-work hours, that is why it is taking a few weeks to be done rather than a few days.  The remainder of the day was spent making dinner and have a little family dance party, reading books and we started Sophia’s potty training!

All of the parenting books I have read say that potty training typically happens after age 2.  However Sophia has shown a real interest in the potty and so we decided to give it a try.  When I say she was showing an interest I mean she was regularly telling us when she had to have a diaper change as soon as she would go in her diaper, and had more recently started to tell us before she was going and saying “potty” pointing to our bathroom. So I went online to Amazon and picked out a training potty I thought she would love and would keep her interest in the whole potty training thing.  I picked out the Fisher Price Learn To Flush Potty.  It has a handle that moves so your child can “flush” their potty and it makes a flushing/water sound and plays music.  We were surprised the first time she used the potty and it actually said “yay! you did it!” and started to play a little song because there are little sensors in the removable bowl.  She was overjoyed at that and ever since has been trying more and more to let us know when she needs to use the potty.  So needless to say, potty training has been going really well!

Sunday I painted…and what I thought was going to be a 2 hour job ended up taking nearly 4.5 hours…but it is all done so I’m really happy with how it turned out.  The hubby was great and took our little munchkin on a shopping trip to spend some of the gift cards that he had gotten for the holidays.  After their trip they came back to my office and I took a break from painting to have lunch with them.  Then I went right back to finishing up the 2nd coat of paint on the walls and called it a day.  The rest of the afternoon was spent chasing Sophia around the living room, reading books to her, letting her point out the different animals and objects she knew in the books (she amazes me everyday how much she is learning) and we of course watched football (yay Green Bay!!).

Hope you all had a great weekend and that your New Year continues to be a great one!
